Description: The 124’ hydrographic research vessel Ferdinand R. Hassler is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) newest ship. She is named after Ferdinand Hassler, a Swiss born immigrant and the first superintendent of the Coast Survey, the precursor to today’s NOAA.
